Part Time Finance Manager

Highly respected international Art & Design School is looking to add a Part Time Finance Manager to their Operations Team.

You will be responsible for the financial planning and analysis, working closely with both the Chief Executive, and Senior Management. This is a part-time role and hours would be around 20 hours per week so salary will be pro rata. You will be working with their external accountants alongside the schools outsourced payroll and finance services, and you will be the conduit between these external services, the Executive team, and the schools Financial Trustees.

Experience working for a similar creative/arts/design school or university is preferred or experience with the arts or design world. ACA qualified is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly variance report on P&L and cash and management accountant’s commentary

  • Responsible for financial planning and analysis of new projects, exploring how these projects may integrate with the School’s broader budget.

  • Working with members of the Executive Team, develop plans for new initiatives and present these plans to the Trustees.

  • Monitoring of expenditure and bought ledger process

  • Arranging salary sacrifice, including processing invoices and tracking payments

  • Processing student expenses and managing second year workshop budget allocation for each student.

  • Managing the collection process including student debt and donations

  • Managing the relationship with the Student Loan Company, and other student finance bodies

  • Being the first point of contact for student enquiries on tuition fees and student finance

  • Processing all applications for discussion at the Bursaries Committee

  • In collaboration with the School’s outsourced bookkeeping and payroll service, take responsibility for preparation of annual budget, forward income and cash forecasts, management accounts and year end accounts.

Experience

  • Ability to work in liaison with the financial Trustees.

  • Experienced in dealing with and presenting to an Executive team.

  • Able to manage own workload and work with minimal supervision.

  • Previous experience of student finance would be an preferred/an advantage.

  • Collaborative team player

  • ACA qualification preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Excel and good all-round IT skills

  • Some payroll and personal tax knowledge would be advantageous.
