British-Ghanaian Adelaide Damoah is a London based multidisciplinary artist, who uses her body as a “living paintbrush” to paint or print onto various surfaces. According to Adelaide: ‘all of my performances have at their core the principle of Sankofa- ancient Akan (Ghanaian) idea which tells us to learn from our past in order to live a better present and future.’ Her interrogation are colonialism, spirituality and intersectional feminism, subjects which she juxtaposes across her work, re-valuing and re-focusing the specs through which we view the modern history of West African colonialism and its effects on its people and the diaspora.
