About the Exhibition
Coordinatesis a graphic design exhibition that showcases the work ofCHK Design.It explores the working methods in visual design and inspirations through various media.The work will be displayed throughoutClerkenwell Design Week and is based on concepts, chance-based operations and systems. In this eclectic collection CHK Design combines the work for international clients, such asSONY Playstation, alongside smaller clients such as independent artist-film label,Filmarmalde.
This full-scale exhibition creates an environment that draws visitors into their world of visual communication. Covering areas of their expertise Coordinates demonstrates art direction, branding, digital design, exhibition design, print design, typography and visual identity.
About CHK Design
CHK’s director Christian Küsters founded his graphic design studio in 1995, right after his graduation with a MFA from Yale University. He’s been working ever since with a wide variety of collaborators. Christian is art director of leading architectural publication Architectural Design (AD) as well as contemporary art magazine sluice, both featuring in this exhibition.CHK Design work across all media –from digital to analogue; from corporate, web and app design, to magazine, book and exhibition design.
CHK Design’s clients include: SONY Playstation, Alexander McQueen, Vespa, Design Museum London, Thames & Hudson, Whitechapel Gallery, Tiffany & Co, Architectural Association (AA), University of the Arts London (UAL), University Of Westminster, Arup Associates, greentomatocars, Aspex Gallery, UFA TV & Film Production, Filmarmalade, Refugee Week and Architectural Design magazine as well as sluice magazine.Christian has lectured extensively at Central St Martins College and Camberwell College of Art and has written for a number of leading design publications. He is the co-author with Emily King of Restart: New Systems in Graphic Design (published by Thames & Hudson). He conceived, co-curated with Emily King and designed Design Now – Graphics, an exhibition on contemporarygraphic designfor the Design Museum, London.
